Chimney Flashing

One of the most important and overlooked projects the homeowner needs to do in my neck of the woods is to flash around the chimney with a plastic tar coumpound [found in your neighborhood home improvement center] that seals out WATER. We need to do it here every year because it freezes almost every night, but in warmer climates it needs to be done every other year. If it is neglected you will start to see signs of leaks and water spots around chimney on ceilings and walls and sometimes the plaster or drywall will fall to the floor. TIPS--If you cant climb to chimney on the roof then you need to have a qualified roofer or HANDYMAN do it for you. It will save you money in the long run.
